4 Tips for Scoring "Cheaper" Airline Tickets

1. Fly midweek or on less popular days.Tuesdays and Wednesdays often have the lowest fares. Avoid Fridays and Sundays if you can — they’re peak travel days and usually the most expensive.


2. Set up fare alerts.Use tools like Google Flights, Hopper, or Skyscanner to track routes you’re interested in. They’ll notify you when prices drop so you can grab the deal at the right time.


3. Consider nearby airports.Flying into (or out of) a smaller or alternate airport can save a surprising amount. For example, flying into Oakland instead of San Francisco, or Fort Lauderdale instead of Miami.


4. Mix and match airlines.Sometimes booking two one-way tickets on different airlines is cheaper than a round trip with the same carrier. It also opens up more
